Liberal Values in the 21st Century
A political party needs a solid philosophical foundation upon which to base policy. In the case of the Liberal Democrats and its predecessor, the Liberal Party, this is Liberalism, in particular as embodied by JS Mill’s Harm Principle.
A group of local liberals, including former Leeds West Liberal MP Michael Meadowcroft, have produced a short pamphlet Principles of Liberal Democracy (see link below) which Michael will introduce, and which will form the basis for a discussion of Liberalism in the current era in Leeds West and beyond.
